Landon Thorne writes boisterous southern fiction. His stories are affectionately drawn from his generational heritage in the South Carolina Lowcountry. A modern-day renaissance man, Landon is multi-lingual, a poet, journalist, warrior, pilot, film producer, Yale graduate, successful business leader, and an avid outdoorsman dedicated to historic preservation and nature conservancy.

His poetry is included in anthologies published by MacMillan and McGraw-Hill, and he has received favorable mention in the NY Times Book Review. His photography and commentary were published by Time-Life Books, and Landon’s internationally distributed op-ed columns have occasionally stirred up a ruckus.

As a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve officer, retired as a Colonel, he received multiple decorations for combat heroism. After many years of successful business entrepreneurship, Landon’s creative muse has called him back to writing.

Born into a family with two centuries of connection to the South Carolina Lowcountry, the region is his center of gravity, and he is driven to tell Lowcountry stories. In a recent interview, Landon said, “The Lowcountry is a place where love abounds, spirits soar, and every day reminds us of an unseen hand that imparts a breathtaking landscape for all to enjoy…but we sure could have done without the sand gnats.”

He has recently earned a Master of Fine Arts degree for creative writing. Among his many awards and honors, both academic and military, Landon is a member of the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta. He lives on a Lowcountry sporting plantation with his wife, Leslie, and a big goofy dog named Blue.

Recently, Landon was featured in Beaufort Lifestyle Magazine.
